Deciding to write a book and get it published is an aggressive idea. It is very possible to achieve. Don’t kid yourself; it is going to be a hard and potentially long process. Don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t happen on the first shot. You have to plug away and keep trying.
Here are some steps to help you achieve your goal.
Step One: The first thing you have to do is write a book. Sounds simple but it isn’t. Your book has to be a topic that people will want to read. It has to be interesting a very well written .If you are writing a children’s book then you want to make sure that the words are easy to understand and the illustrations are good.
Step Two: Try to make your book about something that other writers are not writing on. You are bound to choose a topic that someone else has written on but the idea is to make your book and idea stand out above the rest.
Step Three: There is a source that you can use to help you choose a topic for your book. There is a number for a book distributor, it can tell you the numbers of copies a certain book has sold. For example, if you want to write a horror book and you want to know how this genre sells. Choose the latest Stephen King book and enter it into the phone, the number will tell you how many books it sold this year.
Step Four: Once your book is complete, it may be a good idea to have the book copyrighted. Or fill out a paper stating that you are the original writer of the book and have it notarized.
Step Five: Now, you want to have your book published. Contact as many publishers as you can. Send them a cover letter as well as a copy of your book. You may find that larger publishing companies may pass on your book but smaller companies may be interested.
Don’t be discouraged if at first no one wants to publish the book. It may take a long time to hear back from any publishing company. Some may send back your book with notes on how to improve your book. This will be helpful so you can make your book better.
You can also send your book to a publisher and ask them to simply read the book and critique the book. They may express some interest and they may send back the notes you need to improve the book or maybe choose a different topic.
