How to Open a Garage Door

There are many different ways to open up a garage door. In the old days when garages were first built, the only way to open them was by hand. Even the old houses today still have the metal handle on the middle of the door and you try hard to yank it up far enough that it slides back on the metal tracks to open. You really got a work out when you had to open the doors manually.

First you would have to open the garage door, then back the car out of the garage and then get out of the car and close the door and then repeat the same process when you got home. You would have arms of steel at the end of the workweek. Then someone got tired of opening these doors by hand and they invented the garage door opener.

These units were installed on the manual garage door, so you would not have to buy a whole new door. There would be a keypad on the inside of the house and the outside of the house. To get into the garage you would have to pull into the driveway, get out of the car, punch in the code for the door, then pull in the garage and then hit the button to close the garage. The only thing missing was manually opening the door. But it still took some energy to open the door.

Then someone got very smart and invented a garage door opener. This keypad device was now used to allow drivers to open the garage door from the comfort of their car. Now in bad weather you don’t have to get wet at all. You can safely open your garage door from hundreds of feet away.

The best part is that you don’t have to worry about electricity failing because the new system mounts to your old one. You can simply open the door manually. Technology is a great thing, we started with the manual opener and in turn upgraded to a keypad and then upgraded to where we don’t have to get out of our car. As great as it is, at least we got some exercise when we needed to get in and out of our garages. Now all we have to do is press a button. Can’t wait to see what technology produces next.
