How To Make Friendship Bracelets

Remember when you were in middle school and friendship bracelets were the newest trend? That trend has lasted over time and kids especially girls are still making them today. Making friendship bracelets are a perfect arts and craft idea for your daughter and her friends. They are easy to make and fun to hand out.

You will need beads, elastic string or plastic string or thread. These you can get these items in your local hobby shop or local Wal-Mart. One of the best parts to making the bracelets is to design them. If you have the bead colors separated, the child can design the bracelet easier, it may take some time but they will have fun doing it.

Now, cut the thread or the string big enough to fit over the friend’s wrist. If the friend that you are giving the bracelet to is not there, you can judge by using your daughters wrist for reference, leave some extra room.

After you decide what design you are going to use, you can start to thread your bracelet. Start by tying a knot at one end of the bracelet so when you thread the bracelet the beads don’t come off the other end.

Slowly feed your beads through the string so the beads won’t get stuck or fall off. Once you are done feeding the beads of your choice through the string you can tie off the ends of the bracelet. Make sure that the beads sit right and do not kink the string. The thread you are using should be elastic so it can easily fit onto the wrist.

In most hobby stores, they sell kits that have everything you need included in one place to help you make friendship bracelets. Girls love making bracelets; they can really show off their creativity by designing their own bracelets. These kits are good for kids about 6 years old and older. A parent should supervise the younger kids.

These friendship bracelets make great gifts or perfect party favors for birthday parties. The designs and color themes are endless; if your daughter wants to be a designer this may be a good stepping-stone to a future in jewelry design.
