How To Make French Toast

French Toast is a tasty version of plain old toast. It is one of the most popular breakfast items on restaurant menus. You can make this delicious breakfast at home. The recipe is simple but there are hundreds of different variations to the recipe that you can make. All you need for the traditional version is a loaf of bread; you can use regular white bread or even challah bread. You will also need eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon. This recipe is for 3 pieces of French Toast.

Step One: Gather up your ingredients. In a bowl beat three large eggs. Add a few splashes of milk. Mix in a tablespoon of vanilla and as much cinnamon as you like.

Step Two: Dip the bread into the egg mixture; try to use a bowl that has a wide opening. Make sure you dip the bread evenly into the egg mixture, it will help the bread cook evenly.

Step Three: Heat up a skillet or you can use a frying pan. Place some butter into the pan, if you don’t the bread will stick to the pan.

Step Four: Cook each side about 2 to 3 minutes. If you need more butter, it is ok to add more. The idea is not to let the bread stick to the pans.

Step Five: Cook until the bread is a nice brown color.

Step Six: Remove from the heat and serve.

You can use many toppings on French Toast, cinnamon and maple syrup. Or if you want more flavor, you can use flavored syrups. You can add confectioners sugar on top or grape jelly, strawberry jelly or apricot jelly.

If you want something like you would order in a restaurant you could choose fruit on top of your French Toast. You could use fresh fruit, canned fruit or even fresh fruit like apple slices and fry those up a bit. Then add to the cooked French Toast.

You can also attempt to make stuffed French toast but that can a little difficult especially for the beginner. Challah bread can be found in supermarkets; you can also shop around for other different types of bread. You want to use soft breads, stay away from rye breads and breads with a hard crust. The taste will not be the same. Look online for other French Toast recipes, you may find one you truly like.
