How To Make Cheese

There are people who like to make things homemade. Things like spaghetti, bread and even their own cheese. It is always fun to try to make new things, especially cheese because you may surprise yourself to find that you can actually make something as diverse as cheese.

Step One: gather all of your ingredients; you can try this simple and effective recipe. You will need a cup of milk; you can use skim milk or whole milk. You will need two teaspoons of vinegar and some salt. Start with a small quantity because you don’t know how the first run is going to come out.

Step Two: Take the cup of milk and slowly bring it to a boil in a saucepan. Stir the milk constantly. If you do not stir the milk it may burn and you will have to start over.

Step Two : Turn off the flame but leave the saucepan on the burner. While the milk is still in the pan, add the 2 teaspoons of vinegar. The milk will start to turn into curds. After you add the vinegar stir with a spoon and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

Step Three: You will need a piece of cheesecloth. You can find this is a cooking supply store or your local supermarket. Then strain the curds through the cheesecloth. You want to separate the curds and whey from the milk.

Step Four: use the cheesecloth to press the cheese; this will eliminate any moisture that may be present.

Step Five: After the moisture has disappeared, open the cloth and add just a small pinch of salt if you want. It gives the cheese a bit of flavor.

Step Six: Put together the cheese and the salt then press any extra moisture that may be in the cheese

Step Seven: If you have a cheese mold that you would like to use, you can now press the cheese into the mold or leave the cheese in a block or a ball.

Step Eight: Place in cheese in the Refrigerator before eating.

You can also add some extras to your cheese mixture such as peppers or spices to liven up the taste. Leave in the refrigerator as long as you want. Wait at least an hour. Some people like their cheese cold and others like it just chilled enough. Serve with cracker and enjoy.
