How to Kill Wasps

In the summertime bees and wasps can be a real problem. They make nests and they can be pretty hard to get rid of.  There are proven methods of getting rid of wasps. Here are just some ideas on how to kill wasps. You want to protect yourself as much as you can because you are going to encounter some pretty mad wasps. Try to wear a jacket or at least long sleeves so you won’t get stung when going near their nests.

There are so many different brands wasp killer on the market. Remember the most expensive is not always the best product; items like D-Con or Raid are very good. Make sure that you get a projectile spray, a spray that will shoot from a few feet back. When you get to the nest to spray it you really don’t want to be too close to it.

Stand back and spray the nest, take cover right away. Make sure you douse the nest real good. Check the wind direction even if there is a slight breeze. Keep children away from the area, you don’t want them breathing in the fumes or getting stung when you start spraying.

If the nests are on the ground, you will need a different spray because the regular spray won’t kill the wasps that are hiding underground. You can you kerosene to get rid of these wasps. Take the kerosene and pour it directly into the nest. Do not light it on fire! The kerosene alone will kill the wasps.

If you are successful in killing the wasps or at least making them leave the nest, bag the nest into a plastic bag, never place the nest in an open garbage can, the wasps can still nest and they can fly out of the can. Keep the nest enclosed.
You want to get the nest as quick as possible, the longer you let it stay the more wasps will come. Where you see a nest you will find a queen. The queen is tough to get rid of, so by getting the nest early you have a better chance of getting the queen.

They tend to nest in gutters in the home or near swing sets or by swimming pools. When spring starts, do an inspection of these areas and see if you can spot them. You have a better chance of getting rid of them before the nest becomes infested with the wasps.
