How to Crochet
Crocheting is considered a fun and productive craft. Below are the basic steps to follow if you want to start a crochet project.
Make sure you have all the materials you will need for your crochet project. These are the following:
- Crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Small scissors
- Yarn
Instructions
- Using the crochet hook held firmly like a pen in your right hand, make a slip knot on the hook.
- By now, the yarn should be placed at the back of the hook. Bring the hook to the back of the yarn then grab the yarn with your hook.
- Insert the hook with the yarn through the slip knot. This results in the first chain stitch.
- Repeat steps 2 to 4 for 28 times. This should bring you 29 chain stitches and one loop on the hook.
- Grab the yarn and insert the hook into the second to the last chain stitch you produced. Again, grab the yarn and draw the hook with yarn back out of the chain. You should have three loops on the hook.
- Hook another loop of yarn and draw it through the two loops on the hook. You should have one loop remaining on the hook. This is one crochet stitch.
- Repeat steps 6 to 7 until you have completed an entire row of crochet stitches. Make sure to always work on the last chain to avoid making wide gaps in your project.
- After finishing every row of crochet stitches, turn your project to the other side and make one more chain stitch. From there, you can begin another row by following the previous steps already mentioned.
