How to Build an Egyption Pyramid
The pyramids of Egypt had long held the fascination of our modern world. Their construction and the treasures held inside truly befits them to hold the title of one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Building a pyramid nowadays at the scale in which the ancient Egyptians were built is both costly and impractical. The next best thing to owning a piece of human history is building yourself a scale model of the pyramids.
To create an ancient Egyptian pyramid that will fit in your room, you will need to chop down its size at least 3,000 times the actual size of the real pyramid. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to build a scale model of an Egyptian pyramid.
Required Materials
- manuscript practice board
- heavy duty scissors
- ruler
- Plaster of Paris
Instructions
- Research on ancient Egyptian pyramids. Before embarking on building your miniature copy of an ancient Egyptian pyramid, it is best to collect several photos and write ups to have an idea of the different dimensions, texture, materials used, look, and overall shape. This will help you get an idea of how your pyramid will look like.
- Create the building blocks of the pyramid. Use the Plaster of Paris to create and mold each block. Use solid wax or clay for creating casting materials. Each block should be 5/8” in height. Its gauge needs to be 4 building blocks to the size of 5 regular blocks. Create as many of the blocks that you will need to fit the size of the pyramid.
- Cut out a 10” x 10” square from the practice board. Glue ten of the pyramid blocks that you have made on to the board. Once all of the blocks are set and glued, you can start assembling the pyramid.
- For the inner chamber of your pyramid, create a four-sided wall with an open top. This part of the pyramid will be placed at the center region of your Egyptian pyramid.
- Then outer wall will serve as the foundation of the base and the inner chamber found in the middle section. Once you are done with the outer walls, place the created pyramid onto these two walls. Leave out the top open when you glue the block rows of the pyramid. Place a triangular portion on the open end to make sure that you can open and close the top of the pyramid. The hallow chamber inside can be used to store items inside the pyramid.
