How to Build a Wine Rack
Apart from drinking wine, displaying them is another reason for their collection. Nothing beats a wine rack for this purpose. It allows the viewing of your bottles of wine and their displaying to guests. Building your own wine rack is an easy task. You begin with gathering all the necessary materials listed below:
- A set of screws
- Wood
- Hammer
- Other tools and materials depending on the exact style of your rack
Procedure
- Determine the size of the rack. You can build a wine rack you can place on top of your kitchen counter. If you have a larger collection of wines, you can build a rack as big as a bookshelf.
- Design the rack to horizontally hold the bottles. The actual structure mainly depends on you, but following the rule of holding bottles horizontally is required.
- Construct the wine rack by cutting the wood according to the style you have made.
- Build the base.
- Build the sides and the top portion.
- Focus on the slots for the wine. Providing one slot for each wine bottle is needed. This makes accessing the bottles easier. The depth of the slots should be 6 to 7 inches. The deeper the rack is, the steadier it will be. Diamond- shaped slots or box slots are optional.
- Assemble the pieces.
- Secure the joints using screws as a final step. Creating holes before actually setting the screws is needed to prevent the wood from cracking.
