How to Build a Catapult
Building a catapult is a fun way to spend time with your family and friends. This structure gives a feeling of being in a battle set in the olden times. Also, this project is very easy.
Required Materials
- wood
- rubber bands
- soft leather
Instructions
- Making the Catapults Frame – Form a Y shape with the pieces of wood. Use a saw in cutting the pieces to the appropriate length. To secure the pieces together, you can use a set of nails. Just make sure the pieces of wood are firmly attached to each other and the nails will not cause the wood to crack. Next, you need to use sandpaper to make the surface of the wood smooth. Remove bumps and sharp edges as these will affect the catapults force.
- Securing the Frames – Take your rubber band and cut into two pieces. Make sure you have strong rubber bands. These will serve as the catapults side bands. Then take one of the rubber bands and use smaller rubber bands to secure them to one arm of the Y-shaped frame. Do the same to the other piece of rubber band. The two arms of the frame should have a rubber band attached to them.
- Creating a Pocket – The pocket you will put in the projectile should have narrow ends and a wide center. Attach the pocket to each of the catapult bands. Test your catapult by putting a projectile in the pocket and firing it.
