How to Braid Hair

Braiding hair is not as easy as it looks. Do you know how many girls don’t know the first thing about braiding hair? Don’t panic, listed below is a step-by-step guide on braiding hair. You’ll be a pro in no time.

Step One: Make sure that you have a wide toothcomb. These combs are best to making sure that there are no tangles left in the hair before you braid. Your hair or the hair that you are braiding should be smooth enough that you can run your hands through it.

Step Two: Now divide the hair into three sections using the comb. Try to keep the sections of hair separate by using your fingers. Try not to cross the sections until you are ready to braid.

Step Three: Take the left section and cross over the middle section. The left hand section of the hair has now become the middle section.

Step Four: With the hair still separated, tighten the hair by pulling each section away from the other. You don’t want any slack in the hair sections.

Step Five: Now take the right section of hair and cross over to the middle. The right section is now the middle section. Tighten the hair again.

Step Six: Follow the process, taking the left to the middle and the right to the middle and keep crossing until the hair is done. Keep the middle section always in the middle and always pull hair tight. If you want a lose braid, you can leave it a little loose.

Step Seven: Use a rubber band or scrunchy to taper the bottom of the braid so it doesn’t open.

You can also add hair spray to the braid to help hold it in place. If you are new at braiding it can be frustrating. As you section your hair, you could use rubber bands at the bottom of the hair to help control the hair as you braid. You could also practice with some yarn or ribbons before trying it on your own hair.

Some hair is very fine and hard to hold onto. There are many people who say that braiding wet hair is easier than braiding dry. Keep in mind that you don’t have to braid the entire head at once. You can so side braids or a long braid in the back of the hair. You really don’t have to have super long hair to braid either; you can have shoulder length hair to braid too.
