The country is in desperate need of teachers. Little girls play school when they are little and they dream one day of becoming a teacher. How do you go about being a teacher? You don’t have to go to years of school like when you want to be a doctor but College is required.

You want to get into a good college; so good grades are a priority. By getting good grades in the high school years it will prove to be the beginning of good career. You have to decide what age group you want to teach. If you want to teach grade school you would major in Early Education and if you want to teach a specific subject in Middle School or High School then you would major in the subject you want to teach.

Wanting to become a teacher requires a good education but it also takes a certain mindset. You have to have patience top be a teacher, not all kids learn as fast as others, so you have to have the patience and the right temperament to handle any issues that may arise in the classroom. You have to also know how to talk to parents. They are a big part of a child’s education, as you already know.

It would also be a great idea to research the Teacher’s Certification Programs. This is the test that you will need in order to get a job as a teacher. There are practice tests available online and in some bookstores. The next thing you may want to do is try to get a job as a teacher’s aide or as a substitute. Many schools will hire a student as long as they are attending school for teaching. You may also be able to set an internship in a classroom. You won’t get paid but the experience will pay off later on.

You will also need some classroom experience in addition to the Teacher Certificate Test. The earlier in your college years that you can get a job or an internship the better you will fill the requirement. Many Colleges will offer a student work program. They can set you up with the classroom experience you will need.

Contact potential schools that you would want to work for. Let them know you are in College and you are looking for some classroom experience, they may be able to help you. Being a teacher is very rewarding and by getting good grades, getting the work experience and passing the Teachers Certificate Test. You will have a great career as a Teacher.
