How to Bake Chicken
Baking chicken is an easy and enjoyable task. Here are the things that you will need:
- 1 broiler-fryer chicken
- Marinade
- Olive oil
- Fresh or dried herbs
- Salt and pepper
- Knife
- Roasting pan
- Oven
- Thermometer
Steps in baking the chicken
- Preheat your oven to around 350 Fahrenheit.
- Take the chicken and remove the giblets from its cavity. Rinse the chicken for a few minutes with cold water.
- Pat the chicken with paper towels until it is dry. Apply salt and pepper on the chicken. Remember to apply the said seasonings on the inside as well as the outer parts of the chicken.
- Place the chicken on a roasting pan. If you do not have a roasting pan, you can use an oven-proof skillet. The chicken should be positioned skin-side up.
- Rub olive oil and fresh herbs or marinade on the chicken. Ensure that all parts of the chicken are rubbed evenly with the seasoning or marinade.
- Bake the chicken for around 1 to 1 hours. You can tell if the chicken is properly baked if its meat is cooked through or if the skin is golden brown.
- You can also use a thermometer. The chicken is done if the internal heat of the thighs is 180 degrees and that of the breast meat reaches 170 degrees.
- Test if the chicken is done by using a knife. Cut through the thickest part of the thigh. When the meat is no longer pink and juices run through, the chicken has been baked properly.
- Let the chicken cool for 10 minutes before carving and serving.
